Environmental Best Practices
Our office is located in Palmer Township, PA. Palmer Township has an extensive recycling program and our
office actively participates. This year alone we produced an estimated
total of 1040 lbs. of trash. Approximately 780 lbs. of trash
was recycled and 260 lbs. went to the landfill. This is a very significant
decrease of potential landfill material. We encourage all small offices
such as BCE to
do the same.
The
Civil/Construction Engineering industry pressures us to "get things done" and
unfortunately environmental concerns can many times be an afterthought,
especially during construction.
At
BCE we feel obligated to do our part to be responsible for environmental changes. We use the following practices at our office location:
- Landscape Plantings around the perimeter of the property to use some of the stormwater runoff from the buildings and driveway.
- Office Garden measuring nearly 200 square feet.
- (2) 55 gallon rain barrels to store water for landscape and garden watering.
- Storm water runoff control via draining property into landscaped areas and through the use of rain barrels which detain water.
- Recycling of all office solid waste possible and yard waste (branches, trimmings weeds, etc.).
As Civil Engineers, we are responsible and liable for environmental changes.
